Volunteer Spotlight
Sara and Mike
Sara and Mike joined Second Chance Animal Rescue Windsor-Essex as cat fosters in 2017. As life-long animal lovers, their first order of business after moving into their new home was to adopt and they made a great choice with SCAR alum, Ollie. Within months of adopting Ollie, they decided that they could open their home and hearts to save more animals and began fostering. Their foster cat, Dory, ended up becoming a permanent member of their family; then they decided to foster again, welcoming Peaches as their foster. Sara and Mike continue to dedicate their time to rescue because not all of the animals are saved yet, and saving animals is their passion. In 2019, Sara began organizing cat adoptions for SCAR as one more thing that can help find furever homes for animals in need. This experience has shown that SCAR, as an organization, listens to its fosters and volunteers and ensures that each furever home is the right choice for the animal. SCAR is so very fortunate to have such passionate and active volunteers and fosters as Sara and Mike.
