Toby here, I am a fun-loving active pup ready to turn your house up to 11. I am a super curious guy that loves to smell absolutely everything, even if I’ve smelled it a dozen times already. What can I say? It’s in my genes to snuffle for great smells, especially when those smells lead to those pesky squirrels.
I don’t really enjoy being picked up, but I will definitely come and lay beside you for some great belly rubs. I move at my own pace when it comes to meeting new people and I may bark at first, but am also quick to warm up when I know they’re friends and will give me good pets.
I am good in a crate and don’t make a fuss when people leave to go to work, but I can also be left out while you’re away or overnight. I do like to sleep at the foot of the bed at night if you’re cool with that. I am very good at asking to go to the bathroom when my family is home, but sometimes I may have an accident if you’re away for too long. Now for the fun stuff, I love to play fetch and run around a nice, secure yard. I like lots of toys, especially the ones that have a special treat inside for me to find. I need to keep busy and having a dog-sibling helps to keep me occupied throughout the day. I can get a little over-excited at times and can jump really high, but I’m trying to learn to not do that so much.
I am looking for a home with an active family and active dog so we can go for lots of walks and travel to fun places with lots of awesome smells. My family should let me come to them to shower them with love and kisses. Because I tend to be a little too energetic, I should have a home with older children as I will surely knock smaller ones over in all my excitement to play. If you think you can handle this bolt of lightning covered with white fur, then apply to adopt me so we can start our forever today!
Medical Note: Toby was given Pro Heart 12 on February 10, 2022 (this medication protects against heartworm disease for 12 months) and therefore only requires Nexguard each month for flea/tick prevention until January 2023. For February 2023, he will require a new prescription of Nexguard and Heartguard or Advantage Multi for year-round ongoing preventative treatment.
All dogs available for adoption with Second Chance Animal Rescue Windsor-Essex come fully vaccinated, including lepto, spayed/neutered, microchipped, and heartworm tested (and are on heartworm/flea preventative while in our care). At adoption, adopters receive a 6-week free trial of pet insurance.
SCAR cannot adopt animals to the United States and we can only adopt within a 200 km radius of Windsor, Ontario. Please do not apply if you do not live in Ontario, within 200 kms of Windsor.
