Hi!! My name is Sven and I am actively seeking my fur-ever home and family! Being about a year old, and just being taught the proper way to dog, sure is tough sometimes. There’s so much to learn and so much to explore!
Every day, I get to learn new and important things and I already understand so many people words like SIT, DOWN, NO (I hear this one lots!), and COME HERE. Because I am such a good boy, I get to do lots of fun stuff, like go for walks. I am always up for a nice long walk and sometimes I can even do more than one in a day! Walks are so much fun, so many spots to ‘stop and smell the roses,’ so many new friends to meet.
Boy, do I love meeting new friends. I get along with all kinds of friends, especially the REALLY BIG ones, they’re great!! I also get along great with all of my new friends’ parents, they always give me lots of scratches and that is great by me. I also like cuddling with my foster momma, I could cuddle and snuggle the whole night (after a nice long walk, of course). I also like to go for car rides, they usually end somewhere really fun and exciting, where I get to explore and smell lots of neat things. There is that one spot with the doctor who poked me with a needle a few times, so I’m not really sure how I feel about that place, but I’m really strong and healthy so hopefully I’ll only have to go once or twice a year.
I’m really great in my foster home and I almost always make it outside to ‘take care of business’ but I am still pretty young so an accident or two is expected. I promise that I’m really working hard on that, and I don’t like it any more than my foster momma does, believe me. I’ve been told that I can be sneaky at times, so don’t ever leave your sandwich unattended because it might just disappear.
A few important hopes for my potential fur-ever family are: I hope you are energetic, I am really energetic and I really enjoy a good brisk walk or two each day, I could go jogging with you but my short little legs may not always keep up; I hope you are affectionate, I’m not just good-looking, I also love a good snuggle and scritch, the more the merrier, I always say; and last but certainly not least, I am only a year old and just learning all the ropes, so I hope you will have patience with me. A bonus hope is to have another fur-sibling that can play with me and help me grow into the awesome dog that I know I can be.
I really hope I can find my perfect fur-ever family, I have ever so much love to give and a long time to give it. If I sound like the kind of pup you would enjoy having in your home, then apply to adopt me so that we can begin enjoying life together!
Medical Note: Sven was given Pro Heart 12 on August 22, 2022 (this medication protects against heartworm disease for 12 months) and therefore only requires Nexguard each month for flea/tick prevention until July 2023. For August 2023, he will require a new prescription of Nexguard and Heartguard or Advantage Multi for year-round ongoing preventative treatment.
All dogs available for adoption with Second Chance Animal Rescue Windsor-Essex come fully vaccinated, including lepto, spayed/neutered, microchipped, and heartworm tested (and are on heartworm/flea preventative while in our care). At adoption, adopters receive a 6-week free trial of pet insurance.
SCAR cannot adopt animals to the United States and we can only adopt within a 200 km radius of Windsor, Ontario. Please do not apply if you do not live in Ontario, within 200 kms of Windsor.
