Howdy partner, it’s me, Jax! I am a silly little cowboy with lots of love to give. I really enjoy the great outdoors, soaking up the sun and rolling around in the grass. When it’s time to come inside, I like to make a nice nest of blankets and curl up for a good nap or perch myself somewhere to watch the action going on in the window.
I really enjoy my crate, it is a safe space for me to have some quiet time or to chew my favourite toy. I do really like to chew so I always need lots of appropriate chew toys to keep me from looking for something else to chew on. I love to go for walks but will definitely need some positive reinforcement training to learn how to walk with the herd rather than zigzagging to and fro. I am completely house-trained and know most basic commands such as sit and stay.
I like my foster-sibling and get along with most dogs but I am also content on my own. I love a good treat but can be picky at mealtimes. A good activity feeder might help me eat a little better. I do like to chase small critters around the yard if I see them so my forever home shouldn’t have any cat or small animals. I can get nervous sometimes when I’m not sure about a situation and may bark or make other noises to let my humans know that I am uncomfortable. Slow introductions to new people are best as it helps me learn that they won’t hurt me.
I am looking for a forever home with a loving family ready to dole out belly rubs. I love a good cuddle and will be a good addition to a quiet home ready to make room for a boy like me in their hearts.
Medical note: Jax was treated for positive heartworm, receiving his last injection in January 2021. This means, that while a happy and healthy dog now, Jax must be given heartworm preventative medication for the rest of his life.
All dogs available for adoption with Second Chance Animal Rescue Windsor-Essex come fully vaccinated, including lepto, spayed/neutered, microchipped, and heartworm tested (and are on heartworm/flea preventative while in our care). At adoption, adopters receive a 6-week free trial of pet insurance.
