My name is Finn, but you may have already heard of me. SCAR has been taking care of me long before I ever reached Canada. I was found by a nice human in Texas who reached out to SCAR to help me get the medical care I needed and eventually, a loving forever home.
I was found with damage to my teeth, I have now had 27 teeth removed; and I had luxating patella which I have also received surgery for. Now that I am recovering, I couldn’t be happier. I love all the humans that have opened their homes and hearts to me and have been called the sweetest little guy. I also get along well with cats.
I am crate-trained (a plastic crate that is generally left open) and mostly house-trained but I may have an accident from time to time. I don’t really engage with toys, it can be hard when you don’t have a lot of teeth. While my knee is much better, I shouldn’t climb a lot of stairs and while I really enjoy my walks, I don’t like to go too far. I should not be allowed/able to jump on-off couches, beds or high places and I would really appreciate a comfortable ramp or doggy stairs for accessing these higher places.
I like to be close to my humans at all times, whether sitting on their lap or hanging out in my own bed nearby. I would be the perfect companion for an older family looking to open their home to the goodest boy. We can meet new friends or just have a quiet night at home snuggled up in our favourite comfy spot.
Medical note: Finn was given Pro Heart 12 on September 2, 2021 (this medication protects from heartworm recurrence for 12 months) and therefore only requires Nexguard each month for flea/tick preventative until August 2022. In September 2022, he will require a new prescription of Nexguard and Heartguard or Advantage Multi for year-round ongoing treatment.
All dogs available for adoption with Second Chance Animal Rescue Windsor-Essex come fully vaccinated, including lepto, spayed/neutered, microchipped, and heartworm tested (and are on heartworm/flea preventative while in our care). At adoption, adopters receive a 6-week free trial of pet insurance.
SCAR does not have the resources to adopt animals to the United States and we can only adopt within a 200 km radius of Windsor, Ontario. Please do not apply if you do not live in Ontario, within 200 kms of Windsor.
