This beautiful girl is Betty, she approximately 6 yrs old Standard Poodle/ St. Bernard mix who is looking for her forever home. Betty currently weighs 65 lbs but would ideally be around 70lbs as she is on the thinner side right now. Betty’s mix of breeds is known as a St. Berdoodle but we would like to be clear that she is not a purebred, this is just a name given to a particular breed mix, like all Doodles.
BETTY’S PAST LIFE:
Betty came to us from a life of being a kenneled breeding dog in a large-scale breeding for profit facility. She had no exposure to the world outside of the kennel, had no socialization to people other than the kennel owners and experienced nothing in her life but an overcrowded, loud, barn. Betty’s only purpose in life was to breed and make money for her “owner”. Her whole world for 6 years was a 10×10 kennel with 1 other dog.
Her life changed for the better the moment that she came into our foster care. She has come a long way in her foster home and is at the point of being ready to move on to her forever home!
We want to make very clear that Betty NEEDS a SECURE 6ft+ wooden fenced back yard with absolutely NO small holes or gaps for escape routes. We will NOT entertain any apps that DO NOT have ALL of her requirements she needs, due to her safety and wellbeing.
BETTY’S WANTS AND NEEDS:
I’m sorry to interrupt, but my name is Betty White. They tell me she was a very nice person who loved animals. That’s great because love, patience and understanding is what I’m looking for. You see, I have spent all of my life without much socialization and have been learning what it means to be a cherished pet in my foster home.
I have been getting more comfortable hanging out with my foster family, and they have taught me to be comfortable when meeting new people. I will need a family that will give me space and patience as I adjust to a new place. One way to make me comfortable is to have another calm, well-balanced dog in the home, but I can be on my own with a family that is home most of the time. For the first little while we will need to just stay in the yard and house until I can get totally comfortable with you and the new home, but then once I’m comfortable, I love going for walks.
I walk so well on a leash, and it’s my favourite way to meet new people and dogs. At home, I definitely like to explore the yard. I don’t have much interest in toys, but I’m certainly happy to follow you around and see what you’re doing.
I don’t like to be in a crate, but that’s ok because I’m a good girl and do not chew or have accidents while my foster family is away for short periods. They love to hug me and snuggle me, and give me lots of brushing and grooming to keep my fur looking its best. I do have some pretty soft fur if I do say so myself. I know how to sit and come when called, but if I were to get spooked I will probably forget to come to you and just run, so this is why i will really need someone who can be patient with me and be very careful not to let me ever get out or escape. I’m a very smart girl and if you just give me a chance I think I could learn to do lots of things if given the chance.
The most important thing for me is to have a loving family around me and a nice, calm environment that makes me feel safe. I’m pretty chill most of the time, but my loving personality always shines through. I’m ready to snuggle with you on those rainy days or to strut our stuff on a beautiful summer evening. I probably would do best in an adult home who just loves to chill out and work around the yard and let me follow them around and take me on a couple walks a day.
If you feel we are a match please submit your application to give me the home I’ve been dreaming about!
Love, Betty White
