Special Note for Babygirl:

Babygirl has been through a lot and after behavioural assessment, she should go to a home where she can closely bond with at least one person (meaning, someone who is at home most of the time) and that this person can take the lead on continuing her leash training and can exercise patience with Babygirl as she learns and grows. Babygirl does enjoy the company of other dogs but can become scared and reactive to dogs that invade her space. She should be walked every day in order to improve her leash manners. Babygirl is a good girl who deserves a chance at a good home, but her adopters should be ready for the commitment of a journey with her, patiently helping her leave her old life of fear and mistreatment behind.

Pup-sonality:
My name is Babygirl! Let me tell you about little ol’ me.  I am a 2 year old Chiweenie from Texas. As you can see from my photos, I have gorgeous brown eyes (if I do say so myself). The best thing about me is that I love all people. I have been told that I am a great kisser and an amazing cuddler.

When I was down in Texas, I didn’t understand that the people were trying to help me. It took them 2 weeks to catch me and then I spent another 2 months in this place called a shelter. Before I knew it things started to look up for me….. a ride to Canada and now I have a foster family that takes great care of me.

I am very affectionate and will freely give you kisses. I like to be your shadow and will follow you wherever you go, even in the car. I like to walk and explore but can also appreciate chilling and soaking up some rays. Sometimes I do like a bit of alone time, usually spent sleeping on the couch (even at night).

Although I love people, I need practice trusting other dogs and being away from my family. I have had a lot of changes in my life and sometimes change is scary so I get uneasy when I am alone. I sure would appreciate a home where I can spend lots of time with you. My foster mom is working on crate training me to keep me out of trouble when she isn’t home. Oh, and my foster mom calls me a Door Dasher so they are very careful with open doors.  What can I say?  I am pretty quick.

I am patiently waiting for my forever family. Do you think you could open your home to me? This transition hasn’t been easy for me, but I know that the right person will be patient with me and help me to come out of my shell. I can promise to furever be your snuggle buddy.

PS. I love belly rubs. 😊

Love, Babygirl

Medical Note: Babygirl was given Pro Heart 12 on January 21, 2022 (this medication protects against heartworm disease for 12 months) and therefore only requires Nexguard each month for flea/tick prevention until December 2022. For January 2023, she will require a new prescription of Nexguard and Heartguard or Advantage Multi for year-round ongoing preventative treatment.  Babygirl has been treated for heartworm infection and therefore must remain on heartworm preventatives year-round for the rest of her life to prevent re-infection.
