My name is Amy and I may be as small as a mouse but I have endless love to give. I love to wiggle my bottom to show you how happy I am and I’m a good little dancer.
While I enjoy the company of other dogs, I am happiest with my people. I love to snuggle and kiss, and get belly rubs. If you’re chilling on the couch, I will always be as close to you as possible, just make sure you check the blankets before you sit down. My foster family describes me as the perfect “Netflix & Chill” date. I don’t enjoy being in a crate but will tolerate a small carrier for rides in the car. Really, I just want to be touching you all the time. I am house-trained but my small size doesn’t allow me to hold it for more than around 4 hours at a time.
I like to play with toys on my own or with my humans. I will play with my foster siblings at times, but I’m really a dog that prefers my own space and am not a fan of sharing toys. I love to be groomed and hugged by my humans, any touching is appreciated (especially those belly rubs!). While I have not interacted with cats yet, my general demeanor says that I would likely do well in a home with cats. I can be a little difficult to walk, I like to explore too much, but some positive reinforcement should help me learn to walk so willy-nilly. I can sit, stay, and come when called, especially if there’s a treat involved.
I love to hang out in the yard when my humans are working or relaxing. I like to explore the sounds and scents that come from a nice warm breeze in the grass and get lots of exercise in the yard wandering around at my own pace. If you’ve got room for a tiny little wiggle-butt like me, apply to adopt me today and we can have a great snuggle.
Medical note: Amy has luxating patella in her back knee which is a common injury in smaller dogs. She does not require surgery at this time but care should be taken to not allow her to jump on/off high places or take too many stairs. She would do well with a small ramp or stairs to get where she needs to go.
All dogs available for adoption with Second Chance Animal Rescue Windsor-Essex come fully vaccinated, including lepto, spayed/neutered, microchipped, and heartworm tested (and are on heartworm/flea preventative while in our care). At adoption, adopters receive a 6-week free trial of pet insurance.
